Solar Victoria Heat Pump Hot Water Rebate

The Solar Victoria Hot Water Rebate helps eligible Victorian households reduce the upfront cost of installing an energy-efficient heat pump or solar hot water system. Rebates of up to $1,000 are available on eligible products, and households that choose an eligible locally made hot water product may receive up to $1,400.

Heating water can make up a large share of household energy use, so upgrading to an efficient heat pump hot water system can help lower running costs and reduce emissions.

 

Rebate Value   

The hot water rebate is generally:

  • • Up to $1,000 for eligible heat pump and solar hot water systems
  • • Up to $1,400 for eligible locally made hot water products

 

The rebate is calculated as 50% of the product purchase price after other eligible discounts have been applied, including STCs and Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates where applicable. 

Who May Be Eligible?

You may be eligible for the Solar Victoria Hot Water Rebate if:

  • • You are the owner-occupier of an existing property
  • • Your combined household taxable income is less than $210,000 per year
  • • Your property is valued at under $3 million
  • • Your property has not already received a hot water rebate or solar battery rebate under the Solar Homes Program
  • • The hot water system being replaced is at least 3 years old
  • • The new system is installed by an authorised Solar Victoria hot water installer
  • • The selected system is on the Solar Victoria approved hot water product list

 

Important Notes

  • • The rebate is for existing homes, not new builds.
  • • Product eligibility depends on choosing a system listed on the Solar Victoria hot water product list.
  • • If your retailer is also an approved Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) provider, you may be able to receive additional discounts.
